I finished a project

I finished The Old Diving Helmet finally.  I actually had to look back at my instagram to figure out when I finished it.  Looks like it was about September 28th.  I'm pretty happy with it and can't wait to get it in a frame along with the Vintage Octopus.  Both of those patterns are by LunaRiverCrafts on Etsy.  I did them for my bathroom which has a stormy ship theme.  My shower curtain has a large picture of a ship on it and the walls are blue and ragged with a gray/blue glaze to give it a stormy look.  I love it and can't wait to get my cross stitch pieces in there.  Next I really want a mermaid.  I have a pattern but that one will take a long time to do.

11th Finish, 4th this year

I've been feeling out of sorts and haven't felt like starting anything new.  I do have a needlepoint kit that I started but I really haven't been working on it much.  I haven't even felt like reading, which is very strange for me.  I usually read at least 4 books a month or more and I have only read one book for each of the last two months.  I've been very tired too and sleeping way longer than usual so I've added Vitamin D3 to my daily supplements.  I hope it helps and soon.

I'm still alive

I've just been sick.  I started out with just a little head cold and thought I was going to get off easy.  My whole family got sick except my oldest who is supper healthy and never gets sick.  He's almost a vegetarian and doesn't have an ounce of fat on his body and has always been very healthy since birth.  I say no fair but what good does it do?  Anyway, my husband ended up getting the plague from work.  It was horrible and he missed most of a week of work last week and even some golf!  That should tell you how bad it was.  Anyway, he started to get better and I thought I was in the clear.  Nope.  Now, I have it and I've been coughing just as bad as he was.  I hate being sick but since I take immuno-suppresant drugs I tend to always get everything going around.  Oh well.

I have been working on my Vintage Diving Helmet from LunaRiverCrafts on Etsy whenever I can see well enough.  Now I'm at the very bottom and I'm running low of the color DMC 435.  I just ordered some more from 123stitch.com and I also ordered the stuff to kit up another project.  I still haven't worked on the other one I have kitted up.

I'm not sure if it is just because I'm so new at cross stitch but I just want to focus on one thing at a time.  I want to get this diving helmet finished!  Every time I think about starting something else I find I can't stop thinking about the project I'm working on.  I haven't even worked on Max's Moon in ages.  It also seems that counts all other hobbies too.  I haven't been able to focus on reading much either.  I only read one book last month and so far this month I've only read one.  That is very unusual for me.  I haven't been interested in making jewelry or crocheting or knitting either.  I guess I have tunnel vision.

I do love the Morgan Lap Stand I got to help with the ulner nerve entrapment (which did get better btw).  I got the stand with 7" and 10" hoops.  They work so much better than the wooden ones it isn't even funny.

Okay, I need to go to sleep and let the cold medicine work.

TTFN!

Thinking about a new start

I've been thinking about starting something new that would be a bit more challenging.  I have a chart that doesn't have regular cross stitches but instead has a lot of specialty stitches.  I bought all the materials for it, including the first piece of fabric I've bought that wasn't Aida.  It is 28 ct evenweave in Meadow View.  It's hard to see in this picture but the top is sky blue with white clouds and it fades to green.  I bought this from allaboutcrossstitch on etsy.  I whip-stitched the edges and everything is ready to go now.  I have been having a bad Fibromyalgia flare up so I'm waiting to feel better.

Progress Report and Peacock & Fig Giveaway

I haven't been able to stitch as much lately because I've been getting a lot of headaches and other wonderful fun stuff.  I'm allergic to fall and it is coming in quick.  I haven't seen any yellow leaves yet but we have fungi in our yard.  I usually get migraines in the fall but so far they haven't been actual migraines so I'm counting my blessings.  I love the fall so it is hard to be too down.

I can share the progress of my Old Diver Helmet from Luna River Crafts on Etsy.  It's getting there.

Also, Peacock & Fig is having another pattern giveaway!  Everyone should enter!

New Start

I had something else I really wanted to start but I was waiting for supplies.  I just couldn't wait so I started this one.  I haven't been feeling well and I've been staying in bed a lot and I need something easier to stitch and easier to carry around.  Max's Moon is on black aida and has a ton of colors so I have to sit at the table with my magnifier Ott lamp.  This pattern, called Old Diving Helmet by Luna River Crafts on Etsy, only has 7 colors.  It's pretty much the same size as the Vintage Octopus.  The picture of the pattern image below is dark but I had to take a picture of my computer screen since I only printed the pattern pages.

My little bit of progress so far

I have a finish!

I finished the Vintage Octopus from Luna River Crafts (lunarivercrafts) on Etsy on Friday Aug 3, 2018.  I tried to find another color for the super pale shading area but nothing I tried looked right so I stuck with what the pattern called for.  My oldest son didn't like that I added the text.  He said if I was going to add text I should have made it his name, "Like Larry," he said.  I wanted to add it because I'm going to do the two others in the series.  These are going to go in my stormy/ship themed bathroom.

Vintage Octopus Cross Stitch

My 2nd WIP is Vintage Octopus by Luna River Crafts on Etsy.  I have been crazy about octopuses lately.  I looked at several patterns and decided on this one.  I love him!  I started this on June 27, 2018 and I'm close to being finished.

This is the first time that I bought a pattern and the materials separately.  I didn't do a very good job at estimating how big to cut the fabric.  There are only a couple inches of fabric on the sides of him and maybe 5 at the top and bottom.  What was I thinking?  I will just have to get creative when it comes time to frame him.  Another issue I have is with the shading color in the image.  It is so close to the color of the fabric I chose.  I'm using the DMC aida in platinum and the color used for the shading is 822.  Ironically, the fabric is really close in color to how the white paper looks in the pattern picture at the bottom of this post.  Since the light in here is bad it looks gray and you can barely see the shading in the image.  I think I'll end up changing that color to something more visible.  For now I'm just skipping it.
